Severe weather possible Saturday night

November 16, 2013 By Mary Furness

Parts of Missouri may see severe weather Saturday evening.  The National Weather service is predicting thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail, and the possibility of some isolated tornadoes.  Jared Leighton, with the Kansas City office of the National Weather Service, says storms could be seen in the western part of the state in the early evening, then move through quickly, primarily along and north of Interstate-70–winds could gust as high as 40 to 45 miles per hour.  Leighton says areas in north central and eastern Missouri are most likely to see the effects of the storm, before it lifts sharply northeast into Iowa and Illinois.

Sunday’s forecast calls for dry conditions, but it will still be windy–Leighton urges people to tie down any loose outdoor items, such as  lawn furniture.
