Nixon calls for meeting with legislative Medicaid committees

November 5, 2013 By Mike Lear

Governor Jay Nixon wants to meet with the two committees studying Medicaid expansion and reform later this month.

Nixon has issued a letter to all the members of those committees inviting them to meet with him November 26. He calls the issue an important one and says the state falls short in “delivering the quality, affordable and accountable care Missourians need and deserve.”

He also says he appreciates those lawmakers’ time and effort working on the issue during the summer.

The House Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation is meeting today and tomorrow and is set to wrap up its hearings November 19. The Senate Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation and Reform will next meet on Wednesday, November 13.
