According to the St. Louis Cardinals website, Jake Westbrook is now 0-6 with a 6.88 ERA in 10 career appearances (six starts) at PNC Park. He gave up four runs in the first inning as the Cardinals dropped their fourth in a row, losing to the Pirates, 9-2.

Jose Tabata led off with a walk and Westbrook hit Neil Walker. Andrew McCutchen drove Tabata home with a single and Pedro Alvarez homered giving the Pirates a four-run lead. Alvarez is now 13-for-23 against Westbrook, following his 27th homer of the year.

Westbrook walked three batters and hit three. After his short night of five innings, Mike Matheny had to dip into the bullpen early and rely on two pitchers to finish things off with a doubleheader scheduled Tuesday.

The Pirates added a five-run, seventh-inning off recently called up Mark Rzepczynski and Fernando Salas. Salas threw 34 pitches which may force the Cardinals to make a roster move for Tuesday.

Matt Carpenter drove in a run in the sixth and Shane Robinson added a run in the ninth.
