Tigers will be shorthanded against South Carolina

January 22, 2013 By Bill Pollock

The Missouri basketball team could be without three players as they get set to host South Carolina Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.  During his SEC teleconference, Frank Haith said Laurence Bowers will miss another game tonight as he rehabs from his sprained MCL. Bowers will most likely return on Jan. 30 at LSU.

Keion Bell is doubtful after he sprained his ankle in the second half of Saturday’s loss at Florida. Without leading scorer Bowers, Bell was one of two Mizzou players to score in double figures, netting 14 points on 5-for-6 shooting.

Earnest Ross played just nine minutes against Florida. He landed hard on his back late in the Georgia win. Haith says Ross has a chance to play tonight.

Haith is showing patience when it comes to player injuries. The goal is to get healthy for the stretch run of the season.  AUDIO (Haith on injuries, 1:15)

South Carolina coach Frank Martin is familiar with Missouri, having coached at Kansas State. His team may be catching the Tigers at a good time in terms of being shorthanded, but he was not about to let the thought of this being an easy contest for his Gamecocks creep into their minds.
