Afton woman pleads guilty to second degree murder of Joplin boy

October 19, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

A 29-year-old woman from Afton pled guilty yesterday to second degree murder after a drinking game led to the 2009 death of 11-year-old Tyler Fecko from Joplin. Jasper County Prosecutor Dean Dankelson says she and the boy’s uncle were playing a drinking game with him and allowed him to drink himself to death. He says she faces up to 8 years for endangerment and 13 years for murder.

The boy’s uncle, Dale Phillips,29, who is Petrait’s boyfriend, is still awaiting trial. He faces the same charges.

Joe Lancello of affiliate KZRG contributed to this report.
