The state ethics commission has fined a St. Charles County deputy sheriff $13,000 for failing to file an accurate campaign finance report on time. Deputy Pat Riley failed to win the sheriff’s job last year. Riley also faces a four-thousand dollar fine for campaign law violations in 2006 when he also ran for sheriff. The state has gotten a court order garnisheeing his wages to pay the earlier fine.
