Southwest Missouri congressman Billy Long has apologized for a twitter message that has generate international criticism. Long tweeted, “No one could reach Amy Winehouse before it was too late. Can anyone reach Washnington before it’s too late? Both addicted — same fate???”
A London Daily Mail article has called the comment “the height of bad taste.” Long has told the newspaper he meant no disrespect to Winehouse, who died last weekend in her London apartment. The cause of death has not been released yet. The star had addiction problems for several years.
