Vandals deface KC’s ‘Scout’

May 9, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

A vandal has damaged one of Kansas City’s most visible symbols.

Someone has thrown gray paint on the bronze statue called “The Scout” that overlooks the city from Penn Valley Park. The statue, done in the early 1920s, shows an Indian on horseback looking toward the city.

Officials are not sure how difficult it will be to remove the paint.
