Blues handle the Hawks in preseason hockey

October 1, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Jaroslav Halak, the Blues goalie, acquired from Montreal after leading the Canadiens to the Eastern Conference Finals made 30 saves in his first win at home in a 4-1 final over the Chicago Blackhawks.

After Ben Smith scored 7:59 into the second period to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead, the Blues finished strong tying the game on David Perron’s goal at 10:15 of the second period. T.J. Oshie had the game winner 17:01 and Matt D’Agostini scored early in the third period to make it 3-1.

After Halak stopped a penalty shot, Alex Steen scored on an empty net with 1:37 left to give the Blues their fourth win in six games. Perron and Steen have four goals each in the Blues’ six games.
