Court hearing for complaint against state rep. delayed

September 3, 2010 By [email protected]

A court hearing to determine if State Rep. Brian Nieves, a Republican from Washington, should be ordered to stay away from another man has been delayed until the 20th. It was to have been yesterday but Nieves’ lawyer wants more time to study an amended petition filed by Shawn Bell. Bell was the campaign manager for the candidate Nieves defeated in a state senate primary last month. He says Nieves threatened him and roughed him up the day after the primary.

Nieves is running for the seat now held by Sen. John Griesheimer (R-Washington), who is forbidden from running again by the term limits law.
