All 64 Royals are expected today in Surprise, Arizona for their first official workouts. Jose Guillen got in last night after making funeral arrangements for a sibling.  Manager Trey Hillman will have a lot of options to choose from this year in the outfield.  One thing for sure, David DeJesus is in those plans.

When DeJesus saw the team signed former Cardinal Rick Ankiel, he figured he would be traded given the fact the Royals also brought in outfielder Brian Anderson from the White Sox along with free agent Scott Podsednik, but manager Trey Hillman wants DeJesus to move from left to right field. DeJesus didn’t make an error last season and has gone 153 straight games without an error.

DeJesus will be a pretty good number two or maybe even a number three hitter.  He’s a guy who could make contact and move over Podsednik who has been penciled in as the lead-off hitter.  The Missourinet will be following the Royals with player comments after every home spring training game.  If there is a topic in particular you would like to cover or player you would like to learn more about, drop us an e-mail.
