St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo said he was going to battle for a victory in the final game of the season. It didn’t happen and now the Rams are guaranteed the number one pick in the April draft…if they choose to keep it. If so, everything points to Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska being the number one pick. The Rams lost to San Francisco 28-6.

Vernon Davis tied the NFL record for touchdown receptions by a tight end with his 13th of the season, leading the 49ers’ on a late surge in the win. Davis’ 73-yard TD, tied Antonio Gates for the most TD receptions in a season by a tight end.

As far as the Rams. They finished 1-15 and are 6-42 over the last 3 seasons (3-13 in 2007, 2-14 in 2008) and wrapped up their first winless home schedule since going 0-6 in 1959 and only the third in franchise history.

Something about the 49ers. The Rams mustered just 109 yards total offense, the fifth-worst in franchise history and lowest since they managed just 105 yards at San Francisco in 1996. Most of that yardage came from Steven Jackson who had 63 yards rushing on 20 carries.
