One of Missouri’s Most Wanted is no longer wanted – he’s been found and is in custody.
Deputies say the manhunt for 48-year-old Vernon Phelps started with a failed traffic stop in Maries County in the first week of June, and turned into a car chase through parts of Osage and Miller counties before authorities called off the chase.
The car Phelps is accused of leading deputies on a chase in was found wrecked later that morning, and he’s been missing ever since.
Jefferson City Police now say their SWAT team captured Phelps this morning with the help of the MUSTANG drug task force.
