The names of 58,000 servicemen and women are on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall that has come to the Missouri State Capitol.

The monument isn’t just about names to retired Army Colonel Hugh Mill. In a ceremony this morning he remembered some of the stories behind those names.

“PFC Dan Bullock, United States Marine Corps, forged his entry documents at the age of 14 and was killed at the age of 15,” said Mill. Bullock was the youngest American serviceman killed in the Vietnam War.

Mills, who flew helicopters while he commanded an “Aero Scouts Platoon” in Vietnam, said the wall is a tribute also to those who were awarded the Medal of Honor.

“244 soldiers in Vietnam were awarded the Medal of Honor. 153 of them are on this wall,” he said.

The moving wall will be on the Capitol grounds through Monday afternoon.
