The St. Louis Blues recalled goaltender Jake Allen under emergency conditions from the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Brian Elliott is day-to-day with an upper body injury. In all likelihood, that makes head coach Ken Hitchcock’s decision a no-brainer to start Jaroslav Halak in net for Thursday’s first game playoff matchup with San Jose.

Allen has played in 37 games for the Rivermen this season, posting a 13-19-2 record which includes one shutout, a .918 save percentage and a 2.84 goals against average. Last season, the 6’2”, 195-pound, 21 year old goaltender set Rivermen AHL records in wins (24), minutes played (2805), saves (1306), and shutouts (6).
