Five proposals for changing the grounds around the Arch in St. Louis go on public display today.

The National Park Service is open to finding ways to better connect the Arch with downtown St. Louis and to attract more tourists to the Arch. The five are the finalists in a contest announced late last year. A special eight-person jury is to choose a winner September 24th. There has yet to be a discussion on how any changes would be funded. It is hoped that construction could be completed by October 28th of 2015, the 50th anniversary of completion of the Arch.

The National Park Service and CityArchRiver2015, a local private foundation, sponsor the competition.
