The Kansas City Royals signed manager Ned Yost to a two-year contract through the 2012 season. Yost is the 16th manager in franchise history.

Yost took over for Trey Hillman on May 14 and has led the Royals to a 31-37 record over the past two and a half months. The 55-year old originally joined the Royals as a Special Advisor to Baseball Operations on January, 13, 2010. He was manager of the Milwaukee Brewers from 2003-08, compiling a 457-502 record (.477 winning pct.) before being relieved of his duties on September 15, 2008. Yost had a combined 166-146 record his last two seasons at the helm in Milwaukee.
