A tentative deal has been struck to make improvements to Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadiums in Kansas City. The State Department of Economic Development is a part of the deal, along with the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals. The state would provide up to $50-Million in tax credits over three years to fund the upgrades. The agreement would have the Chiefs and Royals contributing up to $100-Million to the Missouri Development Finance Board, to be used for stadium improvements. The Jackson County Legislature will vote, next month, whether to put the issue on April’s ballot. At that time, Jackson County voters would decide on a proposed 3/8th cent sales tax. Approval of the proposal would see the Chiefs and Royals staying in Kansas City for the next 25 years.
