Jackson County Prosecutor Mike Sanders says police and prosecutors are still looking at evidence that could lead to first-degree murder charges against Harrell and Michelle Johnson, the two poeple charged with killing the child once known as Precious Doe. A judge has entered not guilty pleas on their behalf during a preliminary hearing. They’ll be tried separately. They’re charged with second-degree murder. Elevating the charge to first-degree would make them eligible for the death penalty. During their court appearance in Kansas City, neither showed emotion.
