A St. Louis teenager has died after being shot by an off-dutySt. Louis police officer during an attempted robbery. Police say17-year-old Eric Eichelberger tried to rob the officer at gunpoint at theofficer’s home Friday morning. They say he demanded the officer’s wallet asthe officer was emptying garbage. Police say the officer gave the teen thewallet and then pulled out his own gun and ordered the teen to drop hisweapon. When the teen allegedly did not drop his gun, the officer fired.Officials say the officer involved was a 35-year veteran of the force. Eichelberger died Saturday afternoon after being taken off life support.
