Over the weekend, Columbia native and resident Carl Edwards took the checkered flag at the NASCAR truck race at Kansas Speedway. Edwards overcame a crash on the first lap with points-leader Dennis Setzer to earn his second win of the season and the fourth of his career on the truck series. Edwards, who entered the race 131 points behind Setzer for the lead, now trails by 34 points. There was some concern in the Edwards’ camp after his truck failed a post-race inspection because his truck exceeded height restrictions. NASCAR officials think the problem may be a result of his wreck… Joplin native Jamie McMurray was hoping to crack into the top ten on the NASCAR points list coming into Saturday’s race at Daytona, but he fell two spots to 13th after a 37th-place finish. St. Louis native Rusty Wallace fell one spot to 17th after checking in 27th on Saturday night.
