The initiative petition that would authorize gambling casinos on the White River in Rockaway Beach has been certified by the Secretary of State’s office to appear on the ballot. Sponsors of the petition delivered the required number of signatures and those names have been validated by local election authorities. Missourians will vote in November – or during a special election called by Governor Holden – on a proposal to amend the State Constitution to allow for a casino to open at Rockaway Beach adjacent to the White River. Currently, casinos are only allowed to operate along the Missouri and Mississipi Rivers.
