Jeff Suppan pitched brilliantly for nine innings, and the Royals scored three times in the eleventh to snap their nine-game road losing streak, winning in Detroit 4-1. Jermaine Dye’s two run double snapped the 1-1 tie. Suppan allowed just one run on three hits in nine innings, and Jose Santiago got the victory with two innings of shutout relief. Mike Sweeney had three hits, including his 11th homer of the season. With the White Sox losing, the Royals are now just one game out first place.
