The Kangaroos close the curtain on their season with an 18-11 record. That is the second-best in school history. Valpo will now play IUPUI for the Mid-Continent Conference tournament title with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The UMKC Kangaroos kept their season alive yesterday by beating Southern Utah in the first-round of the Mid-Continent Conference tournament yesterday 70-57. Michael Watson led all scorers in this one with 29 points for UMKC.The fourth-seeded Kangaroos now advance to play top-seed Valparaiso today in the semifinals.
The regular season is in the books for the UMKC Kangaroos as they wrapped things up on Tuesday night with an 81-66 non-conference win over IUPU-Ft. Wayne. The 81 points are a season high for the Kangaroos. Michael Jackson scored 20 points to lead all scorers for UMKC. The Kangaroos finish the regular season 17-10 overall and they will be the fifth seed in the Mid-Continent Conference tournament which begins on Sunday. In the first round, UMKC will take on the four seed Southern Utah.
Michael Watson poured in a game-high 31 points last night to lead the UMKC Kangaroos to a 72-71 overtime win at Southern Utah. Watson hit on 9 of 24 shots from the field, including 7 of 15 from behind the arc. The Kangaroos rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit in this one. The victory improves UMKC to 15-10 overall this season, they are 6-7 in the Mid-Continent Conference.
The UMKC Kangaroos have dropped four of five after losing to Valparaiso last night 76-63 at Municipal Auditorium. The Kangaroos lose despite a brilliant effort from guard Michael Watson. The sophomore scored 34 points on 13 of 29 shooting. He was 6 of 13 from behind the arc. UMKC was right in this game until a six-minute span late in the second half when they did not score a point. With the defeat, UMKC falls to 13-10 on the seaso. Afterwards, head coach Rich Zvosec spoke with reporters about the loss.

He finished with a team-high 15 points, Michael Watson added 14. UMKC won despite shooting just 30% from the field but they did force 19 turnovers to help make up for it. With the win, UMKC improves to 13-8 on the season (4-5 in the Mid-Con).

UMKC wins despite shooting just 35% from the field and getting outrebounded 43-31. The great equalizer in this one? UMKC forced 19 turnovers while committing only five.
The UMKC Kangaroos will host Chicago State tonight at Kemper Arena in Mid-Continent Conference action. The Kangaroos are 11-6 and and coming off a loss to Valparaiso. The ‘Roos have not lost two straight games yet this season. Chicago State is a dismal 2-15 overall this season and 0-5 in the conference.
For the first time since early December, the UMKC Kangaroos have won back-to-back games. Last night they made it two straight wins with a 63-51 victory over Western Illinois. Michael Watson scored 24 points for UMKC to lead all scorers, Marcus Golson added 22. The Kangaroos defense was terrific in this one as they held Western to just 35% shooting from the field and forced 15 turnovers. UMKC is now 11-5 on the season.
The UMKC Kangaroos harrassed the Islanders of Texas A & M Corpus Christi into 34% shooting from the field and 19 turnovers last night, capturing a 67-61 decision at Kemper Arena. Michael Watson and Michael Jackson were two of four players to finish in double figures, they each finished with 16 points. UMKC improves to 10-5 on the season with the victory. The Islanders fall to 6-10.
