The Bill Pollock Show–I called Barry Odom and we talked about the Cross firing at #Mizzou (PODCAST)

September 12, 2017 By Bill Pollock

I called up and talked with Mizzou head football coach Barry Odom.  You’ll get a chance to hear him talk about the firing of defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross.  The timing of the firing is questionable, but if you don’t have your entire coaching staff on board with what you’re trying to do as a program, better to cut ties after week two, then let something linger throughout the season.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid beautifully puts into perspective the injury that All-Pro safety Eric Berry suffered.  If anyone can come back from a season ending injury, it’s Berry who fought his way back from cancer.

I think any of the three teams in contention for the Central Division could make the World Series.  Um, have you seen what the Dodgers have done lately?  I picked them in August, but will the Indians have enough left in October following a win streak that has reached 19 games and closes in on a major league record?

The Bill Pollock Show–The customer isn’t always right. Kudos to Royals staff for shutting up loud mouth fan (PODCAST)

April 11, 2017 By Bill Pollock

The customer is not always right.  Opening Day for the Royals.  You expect there to be some bumps in the road with jockeying around for parking, getting through security, picking up tickets from Will Call, but there was one guy who was just over the top throwing it in the face of Royals staff and to their credit, they didn’t back down and put Mr. Too Tall Hot Shot Salesman in his place.

Sticking with the same theme, I offer my take on the “doctor” who was bloodied and kicked off the United Airlines flight.  He brought that upon himself.  I’ll play the audio from this Chicago to Louisville flight and tell you why this whole situation was ridiculous.  Yes, I’m standing up for United!

As excited as Mizzou fans are about basketball season, they’ll be lucky to get 12,000 fans in that building on a regular basis.

Baseball fans…Royals and Cardinals fans alike…settle down.  Yes both teams are 2-5, but we’re a week into the season.

The Bill Pollock Show–Why the Men’s NCAA Tournament has been terrible to watch (PODCAST)

March 20, 2017 By Bill Pollock

This podcast doesn’t need much of an intro.  Men’s college basketball is terrible.  Teams can’t hold leads, coaches are flipping out, coaches’ wives are flipping out and getting escorted out the arena, the officiating has been terrible and we as a sports society still can’t figure out how to use video replay to our advantage.  To sum it up, watching college basketball is absolutely painful.

That’s why I’m calling for the “Common Sense” official at the scorer’s table.

Don’t even get me started on these guys traveling.  If I could have moved my feet like these guys, I could played some minutes on my high school team for sure.

The Bill Pollock Show–Are dynasties a good or bad thing for sports? Of course they’re good! (PODCAST)

February 8, 2017 By Bill Pollock

Welcome to the podcast.  The daily show that takes you around the world with interesting stories as well as interesting sports topics.

There’s a guy in Hawaii shooting video lava pouring into the Pacific Ocean and he’s treading water just feet away from poisonous gases.  A major league baseball player is reaching out to a kid who got beat up because he bumped into someone in the hallway at his school.

Now that the Patriots have won (again), the topic came up on my Facebook page as to whether or not dynasties were good for sports.  We need dynasties and why having teams that dominate actually keeps sports interesting.

The Bill Pollock Show–St. Louis’ Ezekiel Elliott gets into the Holiday Spirit, plus strange whale sounds (PODCAST)

December 20, 2016 By Bill Pollock

The difference between musically talented kids and athletically talented kids.  Yes, I’m the sports guys, but you may be surprised by my assessment.

Ezekiel Elliott, the former John Burroughs High Schools star, jumped into a huge Salvation Army kettle after setting a franchise record 13th rookie touchdown for the Dallas Cowboys and now donations are on the rise!

My take on the Electoral College and a sound that has scientists freaking out over the Pacific Ocean.  You’ll hear it here on the Bill Pollock Show Podcast.  Check out my archives on SoundCloud and iTunes as I count down my favorite Christmas songs.  I love number 4 today!

The Bill Pollock Show–Happy Veterans Days!!! Listen to one of the greatest versions of our National Anthem, plus #Mizzou and #Chiefs news (PODCAST)

November 11, 2016 By Bill Pollock

One of my friends, posted this on Facebook.

“I am really having reservations about sending my kids to college. They are having cry-ins, bringing service animals to hug and skipping exams because of the election results. Please make America smart again. This is the core of the problem.”

The reason I bring up that Facebook post is because back in 1991, I too was a college student who couldn’t handle the stress of the war in Iraq.  I share my story of how I played the system and pulled out a B+ on my final.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, I play one of the greatest versions of our National Anthem.

Tod Palmer of the Kansas City Star, joins me to talk about his article on Mizzou football recruiting.  Over three years, a total of 64 recruits came to Mizzou…26 players never finished their career at Mizzou.

Listen to the full version of my interview with Palmer

My college picks:
Vandy over Mizzou, Mizzou favored by 3.5–betters will rake if they take Vandy.
Auburn crushes Georgia by 14+–Auburn favored by 10.5
#25 Arkansas loses at home to #24 LSU–Tigers favored by 7.

NFL
Redskins over the Vikings
TB 0-4 at home, Bears 0-4 on the road. Gimme the Bears
Chiefs beat the Panthers.

The Bill Pollock Show–Barry Odom on #Mizzou defense, “I’ve failed.” Pete Rose sings Pearl Jam (PODCAST)

October 24, 2016 By Bill Pollock

I’m always amazed by stories of people who wake up from a coma speaking a language they’ve never learned.  I’ll tell you about a soccer player who came out speaking Spanish.

Mizzou football coach Barry Odom said he is failing. The Tigers defense got torched for almost 600 yards against a Conference USA team.  I was optimistic the Tigers could get six wins at the beginning of the year, but most likely 5-7.  This past Saturday was one of those five wins I figured on.

What does it mean for Cubs fans to see their team in the World Series?  I try to explain the euphoric feelings.  Something I’m sure Cardinals fans have taken for granted.

Also, thanks to Fox Sports 1 for giving me a shoutout with my tweet after I heard Pete Rose belt out some Eddie Vedder.

The Bill Pollock Show–Experts try to scare us about water, my #Chiefs and #Mizzou picks (PODCAST)

October 14, 2016 By Bill Pollock

Some so-called “experts” try to tell us that we may kill ourselves if we drink eight ounces of water and we’re not thirsty. I call B.S.

We now have people who aren’t even interested in playing video games over getting outside and playing sports…they’d rather watch someone else play video games. What?  How lazy can we get?

Plus, my NFL and NCAA picks of the week.

Steak or hot dogs…which is the right choice? I’m become the culinary version of Dear Abbey when I take listener phone calls!

This is the one podcast you’ll want to check out.  Why?

  1. It’s daily
  2. It’s never long than 12 minutes.  You can listen on your way to work, on a break or during your lunch hour walk
  3. I cover news, entertainment, sports and I take phone calls

Yeah, it’s kind of cool

The Bill Pollock Show–Why #MLB is a better product than the #NFL (PODCAST)

October 3, 2016 By Bill Pollock

I’m not just saying that baseball is better than football because we had the final day of the season on the NFL is only four weeks in.  It has nothing to do with playoffs starting.

This podcast and opinion piece is based solely on the talent that we’re seeing on the field.  The game of baseball is more compelling to watch and follow than the NFL.

You may be wrapped up Fantasy sports, close scores every week, not sure how any game is going to end…all the drama that’s been built up over an entire week for one game.  Don’t let all of that fool you.  The product on the field has diminished and the level of play from most teams is sub-par for much of the season.

The difference in the quality of the leagues between MLB and the NFL comes down to economics.

The Bill Pollock Show–It’s #NationalCoffeeDay – so let’s talk donuts? Plus, Baseball Gods play cruel trick on the #STLCards (PODCAST)

September 29, 2016 By Bill Pollock

Donuts and coffee...we all freak out if we can't get our favorite donut or cup of Joe.

Donuts and coffee…we all freak out if we can’t get our favorite donut or cup of Joe.

In honor on National Coffee Day, I’d like to talk about donuts.  What???

Believe me, it all ties in.  Jefferson City had a donut shop out of Springfield stop by and people waited for over an hour.  I realize it was for charity, but waiting over an hour?  A donut is a donut.

Apparently, several hundred people disagree with me.

However, this is coming from the same town that took shuttle buses to an Arby’s when it first opened up in town.  (So take it for what it’s worth).

Yes, the gods of baseball played a cruel trick on the Cardinals, but before you fans start bashing your team for not being able to pull off a win, let me remind you about a win against the Reds in August…everything evens out folks!

That’s all on the latest podcast of The Bill Pollock Show!
