Rascals Lose Playoff Opener

River City lost the opener of its Frontier League playoff series with Evansville, 5-2. The Rascals have lost six in a row and 9 of 10. They must win two straight to win the series. Game two is Saturday night in O’Fallon, and game three would be Sunday, also in O’Fallon.

Rascals End Season With 5 Losses

The River City Rascals open the Frontier League playoffs Thursday in the midst of a losing streak. The Rascals ended the season with a 2-1 loss to Evansville, giving them a five-game losing streak. They open their best of three series in Evansville Thursday. Games 2 and 3 are at River City.

Rascals Clinch Division

The River City Rascals have clinched the West Division title in the Frontier League. The Rascals beat Cook County 11-5 to wrap up the crown. They begin the playoffs next Thursday.

Smith Reaches 200 K’s for Ducks; Rascals Blow Lead

Ozark’s Mike Smith threw a five-hitter and struck out ten, as the Mountain Ducks beat Jackson 5-1. Smith reached the 200-strikeout mark for the season, the first time he’s done that in 17 years of professional baseball.River City blew a 2-0 lead in the ninth, and lost to Dubois County 3-2.

Ducks Hot at Home; Rascals Win

The Ozark Mountain Ducks beat up on the Jackson DiamondKats 12-8. Ozark has won 20 of its last 25 home games. The Ducks magic number to clinch a playoff berth is 4.The River City Rascals beat the Chillicothe Paints 8-2. The Paints mustered just two hits.

Ducks Beat 1st-Place ‘Dillos; Rascals Lose

The Ozark Mountain Ducks outlasted first-place Amarillo, 2-1 in 10 innings. Ozark’s Juan Mora extended his hitting streak to 25 games. Ozark is a game over .500 at 46-45, but the Ducks are in 4th place, trailing Amarillo by 15 and 1/2 games.River City lost to the Springfield, Illinois Capitalals 8-2, as Springfield averted a series sweep. The Rascals are 40-27, in first place in the Western division of the Frontier League.

River City’s Nick Kays hit a homer and drove in five runs, leading the Rascals over Richmond 9-6. River City is 38-25.

Ducks Beat 1st-Place Amarillo; Rascals Lose

The Ozark Mountain Ducks beat league-leading Amarillo 7-6 in 11 innings. Ozark is in the midst of a 14-game road trip.River City scored four runs in the 9th and two more in the 10th, but lost to the London Werewoves, 10-9 in 10 innings.

Two Rascals Signed by Red Sox

River City Rascals Mike Robertson and Randy Eversgerd have signed with the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox purchased their contracts from the Rascals and assigned them to their class A affiliate in Sarasota. Robertson had a 30-game hit streak earlier this year, and was leading the Frontier League in seven categories, including a .401 batting average. Eversgerd was 5-2 with a 3.62 ERA and led the league with 92 strikeouts in 82 innings.The Rascals beat the Johnstown Johnnies 4-2 in a battle of first-place teams.
