As much as I couldn’t stand him for all of that exposure he was getting before he ever took a snap in the NFL, I have to say I’m pulling for Tim Tebow now. Nobody in the NFL was giving this guy much respect when he took over the Broncos saying his style won’t last in the NFL. I’d like to ask, why can’t an offense like this work in the NFL?
No Chiefs or Rams were voted into the Pro Bowl by fans, but former Mizzou Tiger and Jefferson City Jay Justin Smith of the 49ers was voted in as the NFC’s defensive tackle. This season Smith has 50 tackles, 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles for a defense that hasn’t allowed a rushing touchdown this season.
Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay led all vote getters with over almost 1.6 million votes. Tom Brady got the most votes in the AFC. Nine Packers and seven Baltimore Ravens represent the top teams.
NFL Pro Bowl rosters as voted on by fans:
There were two NFL preseason games on Thursday night. The Ravens beat the Panthers 17-12 and the Patriots beat the Saints 27-24 and quarterbacks with local ties saw action in both games.
Former Rams’ starter Marc Bulger fumbled on his first series and finished 5 for 12 for 67 yards. Bulger signed with Baltimore to fight for the backup job behind Joe Flacco.
Former Missouri Tiger Chase Daniel went 6 for 9 for 50 yards, but threw an interception with 39 seconds left to seal the win for New England. In that game, Normandy High School product Laurence Maroney ran for two touchdowns.
I just haven’t been into the NFL this season until this weekend. With the Chiefs and Rams struggles the past few seasons, and after the horrible start they got off to, I just couldn’t warm up to it. The NFL playoffs can quickly bring you back.
