Former #Mizzou star Aldon Smith’s fiancee, “I’m scared for his life.” Raiders release him

TMZ Sports reports that Aldon Smith has checked into a rehab center after a domestic violence incident.  His fiancee confirmed she was the victim.

The incident took place on Saturday night in San Francisco.  Smith is currently suspended by the Oakland Raiders.

Smith is currently serving a suspension with the Oakland Raiders and checked into rehab after calling the alleged victim’s parents.

“I can tell you this … Aldon called my parents and asked them to take him to rehab,” the victim told TMZ.  “He complied. They went and got him. I was not there. My family took him and had him checked in.  I wish the BEST for Aldon. And I’m scared for his life with his addiction. I cannot comment on the altercation but I can tell you I love him and so happy he turned to my family who considers him family and hopefully he gets the help he truly needs.”

ESPN reports that his accuser suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Raiders have reportedly released Smith from the team.

NFL investigating Aldon Smith smoking/social media app controversy. Here’s the evidence, you decide…is it Aldon?

July 26, 2016 By Bill Pollock

Could this video land former Mizzou star Aldon Smith in more trouble with the NFL?

Could this video land former Mizzou star Aldon Smith in more trouble with the NFL?

Former Missouri Tiger football star Aldon Smith, who has had a rocky career as a pro football player,  is currently serving a one year suspension for failing the NFL’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.  If the video clip that has surfaced from an account that is linked to Smith is legit, he may land in more hot water and may have played his final game in the NFL for sure.

Here’s the backstory:  CSN Bay Area first ran the story of a video clip that shows a man (who could be Smith) holding what looks to be a hand-rolled cigarette.  The footage was posted to a Periscope account named Ricky @Ravenga that features Smith in several videos.  This particular clip “Fire up session” — does not show Smith’s face but does include a voice referencing Aldon Smith.

When a female  suggests not posting the video, the man says: “You’re stupid. You’re tripping. (Expletive deleted), they don’t know it’s me. It’s not like I put ‘Aldon Smith.'”  The video cuts out.

On Monday, Smith took to his Twitter account to offer a response to the video:

Smith Tweet

So many questions. Is he saying someone hacked the account?  Was this a friend’s dumb idea of a joke?  Is the account even Aldon’s?  Why the name Ricky?  Is that an alter-ego?  Did Smith have second thoughts and stop recording, only to have the app have a delay and catch a couple of seconds of Smith speaking, while thinking he’s done recording?

Most of Smith’s videos are really quite ridiculous with no real reason for why he is posting the video.  He’s usually laying around in bed or on the couch…rambles about nothing.  They usually last any from 30 seconds to 2:30 minutes.

I’ve taken screen shots of his hands and pulled udio from portions of the videos (where he isn’t dropping the F-bomb or N-word).  My first impression is that the voices are slightly different and the hand holding the cigarette looks much smaller than Smith’s hand…but I can’t make a final determination.  I’ll leave that up to the NFL.

Give a listen for yourself.

The hands that is holding the “cigarette” appears to be much smaller compared to other videos posted by Smith.  What do you think?

Aldon Smith gets another chance in the bay area…this time with the Oakland Raiders. Signs one-year deal

September 11, 2015 By Bill Pollock

Aldon Smith, the former Missouri Tigers and first round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers, who was cut after several legal issues, has signed a one-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.  Following conditioning tests, its possible Smith could suit up and play this Sunday when the Raiders host Cincinnati.

Smith was arrested in August for hit and run, DUI, and vandalism. Prior, he was also arrested in Sept. of 2013 on drunk driving charges. He missed five games in 2013 after his DUI arrest when he checked into a substance abuse rehabilitation clinic. He has faced felony gun charges, but those lowered to misdemeanors. In 2014 he told a TSA agent at Los Angeles International Airport that he had a bomb, but no charges were brought in that case.

Smith has 44 sacks in 50 games, spanning four seasons.  Smith was the 7th overall pick in 2011.

If things work out for Smith, he wouldn’t return to his hometown Kansas City to play the Chiefs until week 17 on January 3rd.

San Francisco 49ers linebacker, and former Mizzou standout, Aldon Smith has been suspended for the first nine games of the season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct and substance abuse policies.  It breaks down as four games for violations of the substance abuse policy and five games for violations of the personal conduct policy.

He’ll sit in on team meetings during his suspension and won’t return until November 9th, which is actually the 10th week of the season.  San Francisco has a bye week in late October.

The Rams and 49ers play in week six, here in St. Louis, and then week 9 at San Francisco.  The 49ers also host the Chiefs in week five on October 5th.  You’re only real chance to see Smith play on TV this season (for those huge Aldon Smith fans), will be on Thanksgiving night when the Niners play Seattle on NBC in prime time.

Smith was sentenced in July to 11 days of work release after his second arrest for drunken driving last September. Smith had three felony gun charges knocked down to misdemeanors.  Smith voluntarily missed five games last season when he entered a substance abuse treatment center.

Aldon Smith to be sentenced in late July after pleading no contest to felony charges. He could serve up to four years in prison

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith pleaded no contest to three felony weapons charges and two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence.  The former Mizzou star defensive end entered his pleas on Wednesday at a Santa Clara County Superior Courtroom in San Jose.

According to prosecutors, Smith could face a sentence ranging from spending no time to a max four years, which will be decided by a judge.  Smith’s sentencing date is July 25, which is two days after the start of training camp for the 49ers.

In November 2013, Smith pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon.  Police found three assault rifles after responding to a complaint about a party in June 2012 at Smith’s home. At that party, Smith fired a handgun in the air and was stabbed as two other people were shot.  It’s worth noting, the rifles were legally purchased in Arizona, but they are illegal in the state of California.

In September 2013, Smith ran his car into a tree in San Jose and was charged with DUI.

Aldon Smith charged

October 10, 2013 By Bill Pollock

Former Missouri football standout Aldon Smith, currently on indefinite leave from the NFL while undergoing treatment for substance abuse, was charged with three felony counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon, from a party at his home in June of 2012.

The Santa Clara County district attorney’s office said Smith is expected to turn himself in later this month. The 24-year old, who set a San Francisco 49ers record with 19.5 sacks, could face up to four years in jail if convicted. Much less of a concern, once Smith’s legal troubles are decided, he’s also likely to face a suspension from the NFL.

Former Tiger Aldon Smith arrested again for DUI

September 20, 2013 By Bill Pollock

San Jose Police arrested former Missouri Tigers star Aldon Smith on suspicion of DUI Friday morning after he was involved in a single-car accident. Smith was not injured, but was taken to Santa Clara County Jail, where he was being held on $5,250 bail.  His status for Sunday’s San Francisco game against the Indianapolis Colts in question.

The 49ers released a statement:

“The 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Aldon Smith. As we continue to gather information regarding this situation, we will have no further comment.”

This is Smith’s second arrest on a drunken driving charge. Those charges from a January 2012 arrest in Miami Beach were later reduced to reckless driving.  Trouble keeps mounting for Smith. Just last month, he and former teammate Delanie Walker, were sued  by a man who says he was shot in the leg at a party thrown at Smith’s San Jose home. No criminal charges have been filed in that case.

This year, he set the franchise record with 19 this season, leading the NFC.  Justin Smith, who signed with the 49ers as an unrestricted free agent 2008, was voted to his fourth straight Pro Bowl this season .
