Another Missouri community has canceled its Fourth of July fireworks celebration after organizers said they would not receive the fireworks needed for the event.

The Mexico Noon Lions Club announced Thursday on social media that its annual fireworks display would not take place this year. The organization said it learned this week that its longtime fireworks supplier would be unable to provide the display, leaving too little time to find an alternative before Independence Day.

The cancellation is the latest to affect communities across Missouri ahead of the holiday weekend. Similar cancellations and postponements have been reported in the Lake of the Ozarks region, including Osage Beach and Camdenton.

According to KRCG-TV, the supplier previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year.

The loss of the Mexico display comes as communities across Missouri prepare for Fourth of July festivities, with some celebrations forced to adjust plans because of fireworks supply issues.
