State and federal officials are reviewing storm damage across Missouri after weeks of severe weather. Governor Mike Kehoe says teams from the State Emergency Management Agency and FEMA will join local officials to inspect damage to roads, bridges, and other public systems in 29 counties. The review follows days of flash flooding, tornadoes, and strong winds that caused significant damage starting June 4th. State officials say early reports show the damage may be enough to qualify Missouri for federal disaster assistance.
“For the last two weeks, local emergency management teams across Missouri have responded to dangerous flash flooding, several tornadoes, and intense straight-line winds resulting in serious destruction to their communities,” Governor Kehoe said in an official statement.
Joint PDAs (Preliminary Damage Assessments) have been requested for the following counties: Adair, Andrew, Callaway, Camden, Cape Girardeau, Dade, Gasconade, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Jasper, Knox, Lewis, Macon, Marion, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Newton, Nodaway, Polk, Putman, Scott, Shelby, Sullivan, Vernon, Webster and Worth.
More counties could be added as assessments continue.
