The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) has announced the arrest of a suspect following an armed robbery at the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville, Missouri.

Authorities say Benjamin Michael‑Dass Charles, 21, of Columbia, Missouri, was arrested as a result of DDCC’s investigation into the robbery, which occurred March 25, 2026.

According to the Patrol, just after 2:13 p.m., two individuals entered the Isle of Capri Casino dressed in black and wearing face masks, hats, and sunglasses. Investigators say one suspect was armed with a rifle and the other with a handgun. The pair went directly to the casino’s bank area and stole approximately $1,276,000.

While fleeing the casino floor, a patron tackled the suspect carrying the rifle, leading to a physical struggle. The second suspect allegedly struck the patron multiple times, allowing both suspects to escape the property.

During the investigation, troopers secured evidence, interviewed witnesses, and developed multiple leads. Charles, an employee of the casino, was later identified as a suspect after investigators established probable cause.

On the evening of March 26, troopers assigned to the Patrol’s Gaming Division made contact with Charles while he was on duty at the casino. Following an interview — during which Charles was advised of his constitutional rights — he was taken into custody.

Charles was transported to the Cooper County Jail and placed on a 24‑hour hold. On March 27, the Cooper County Prosecuting Attorney formally charged Charles with:

  • Robbery in the First Degree
  • Assault in the First Degree
  • Armed Criminal Action
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Felony Prosecution

Charles remains held at the Cooper County Jail on a $1.3 million bond.
