Law enforcement took a power washer to the entire southwest Missouri region as part of a sting called “Operation Spring Cleaning.” That’s according to Matt Price, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
During a news conference, he said the operation led to more than 100 people being charged for a variety of suspected crimes. Officers seized drugs and weapons throughout the multi-day effort.
“Operation Spring Cleaning resulted in the seizure of 141 firearms, 94 kilograms of marijuana, 40 kilograms of methamphetamine, more than 5 kilograms of cocaine, and more than a pound and a half of fentanyl,” he said during a news conference.
Price said most of the arrests were in Springfield and Joplin.
“The majority of the arrests stemmed from indictments involving violent crime, federal firearms offenses, and narcotics, but included in the spring cleaning totals are 9 individuals indicted for federal sex crimes and four convicted sex offenders indicted on other charges,” he said.
According to Price, 85 of the 101 people arrested face federal indictments.
He calls the operation an across-the-board win for the region.
