Missouri is playing a role far beyond its borders as the conflict with Iran continues, according to Gov. Mike Kehoe.

Kehoe said Missouri-based military units were involved in Operation Midnight Hammer – last summer’s initial strikes against Iran – and the current military campaign known as Operation Epic Fury.

“We’re very proud of our B‑2 wing that’s at Whiteman, along with our fighters in the 442nd,” Kehoe said. “National Guard personnel have been involved, and I’m super proud of those men and ladies representing the state of Missouri and helping secure peace globally for our country.”

Whiteman Air Force Base, located near west-central Missouri’s Knob Noster, is home to the nation’s fleet of B‑2 stealth bombers.

Missouri National Guard members have also played a role in the conflict, according to the governor.

“It’s been very humbling to see Missourians and Missouri National Guard members part of that critical process,” Kehoe said.

Kehoe said Missouri’s involvement highlights the state’s strategic military importance and the role Missourians continue to play in national and global security efforts.

The conflict reached its 24th day on Monday. President Donald Trump has announced a five‑day ceasefire targeting Iranian power plants and energy sites, as negotiations continue toward a possible end to the fighting.
