Call volume at the Missouri Department of Revenue has been very high, according to MDOR Director Trish Vincent. She said it’s not uncommon to see high numbers of phone calls ahead of the April 15th tax deadline.
Missourinet randomly called the agency in the past two weeks and encountered the message “Due to a high volume of calls, your call cannot be answered at this time.” The recording also reminds taxpayers to seek answers on the agency’s website using the virtual assistant “Dora.”
Vincent said taxpayers can also save time waiting by scheduling an appointment. She said the “Dora” system is relatively new so they’re still looking at data to determine its effectiveness.
“Dora” is also available for those with motor vehicle questions. It’s not uncommon to encounter a high volume of calls in that division as well. Missourinet randomly called the MDOR’s motor vehicle division over the past two weeks and encountered queues that varied from 24 to over 100 people waiting to speak with MDOR.
Vincent said many motor vehicle transactions can now be completed on the department’s website.
