A Missouri museum is up for a national honor.  The National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis is vying for “USA Today’s Best Outdoor Museum.”

Voting is underway thru February 9th.  Those who wish to vote can do so once each day.

Darryl Ross is president of the museum’s board of directors and said it gets over 300,000 visitors each year to the museum at 2933 Barrett Station Road, in southwest St. Louis County.   Ross said visitors of all ages enjoy learning about the history of transportation.

The museum’s collection includes horses and carriages, automobiles, locomotives, and airplanes, including the F/A 18 Super Hornet.  Ross said this spring it is getting a harrier jet from the Navy, which was built in St. Louis.

Last year, the National Museum of Transportation was ranked as the 3rd highest ranked outdoor museum in the United States.
