A southeast Missouri company says it will temporarily lay off 94 workers starting around March 24.

Greenbrier Central told the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development that the furloughs at its railcar site in Kennett are temporary and expected to last less than six months.

The railroad equipment supplier cites reduced production needs and business conditions beyond its control as the reason for the action.

The notice triggers assistance from Missouri’s Rapid Response team, which will help affected workers with reemployment and retraining services.
