A deal has been reached between SSM Health and UnitedHealthcare.
The hospital system and health insurance giant have finalized a new multi-year insurance agreement that keeps more than 140,000 Missouri patients in network. SSM announced on Tuesday that the deal ensures continued access to SSM Health hospitals, clinics, and physicians for patients with commercial and Medicaid UnitedHealthcare plans.
It follows a temporary letter of agreement from late December that prevented disruptions while negotiations continued.
Patients who canceled or delayed appointments are encouraged to contact their providers to resume care.
Last year, a similar disagreement between MU Health Care and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield was eventually resolved, but not before thousands of patients lost in-network coverage for several months.
