U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Missouri, is changing his vote on a measure to invoke the War Powers Act following military action against Venezuela.

Last week, Hawley and four other Republicans joined Democrats in voting “yes” on the resolution, which would bar any further military action against Venezuela without the authorization of Congress. But multiple national media outlets are reporting that Hawley is now a firm “no” vote.

They cite conversations Hawley had with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in which Rubio reportedly told him that President Trump is not going to deploy U.S. troops to Venezuela.

Trump had blasted Hawley for supporting the War Powers resolution, saying on social media that Hawley and the others who sided with Democrats “should never be elected to office again.”
