A Missouri lawmaker wants to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk with his own day in the Show-Me State.
State Sen. Adam Schnelting, R-St. Charles, introduced the resolution.
“Our nation was shocked by the assassination of Charlie Kirk,” said Schnelting. “Our country lost an ardent supporter of Christian values, and of our First Amendment rights, and this resolution simply mirrors the federal resolution that the United States Congress has passed to designate October 14th of each year as Charlie Kirk Day in Missouri.”
October 14th was Charlie Kirk’s birthday.
Schnelting went on to say this while introducing the resolution on the Senate floor.
“Charlie was beloved by many for one of those reasons is because he thought for many of us who feel the same and he articulated, and he spoke out for us,” said Schnelting. “So, I hope and pray that from his death, 10,000 more like him will stand up and be champions for the American way of life.”
Kirk is the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative advocacy group.
He was assassinated September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University, while speaking at an outdoor Turning Point USA event to students.
The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, is charged with aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, and other charges. Prosecutors in Utah have indicated that they will seek the death penalty.
