(FORT LEONARD WOOD, MO) — New military housing construction is underway at Missouri’s Fort Leonard Wood. Colonel Steve Bartley says of the 1,800 homes on the installation, most were built before or during the Vietnam War era. Col. Bartley says during the design phase, soldiers and their families offered key input, explaining they needed garages and more storage space as well as more modern floor plans.
The $50 (M) million-dollar project includes replacing 56 outdated homes with new ones. The project also includes infrastructure upgrades. The work is expected to be complete by 2027.
