(Columbia, MO) — Columbia Regional Airport Manager Michael Parks says the recent Allegiant Airlines announcement is just one example of how the mid-Missouri airport is growing. Allegiant will begin non-stop service from Columbia to Orlando and Destin, Florida in June.
Parks says that news along with more options from United and American Airlines will easily push their passenger numbers into record territory next year. Parks calls the Allegiant news “a game changer for Columbia.” He says the airport has been working hard to attract Allegiant to Columbia and expects it to be a solid partner and great addition to existing service.
Parks says airlines are recognizing that many passenger like smaller airports, closer to home.
The biggest year for the Columbia Regional Airport was 2019, when 265,000 passengers flew in and out of the airport. Parks expects that number to be closer to 300,000 next year.
The new routes between Columbia, Missouri via Columbia Regional Airport (COU) and the following cities include:
- Sanford, Florida via Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) beginning June 3, 2026 with one-way fares as low as $59.*
- Destin, Florida via Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) beginning June 5, 2026 with one-way fares as low as $59.*
