Oh, what a feeling, Toyota!
That catchy slogan from the 80s still rings a bell.
Fast forward to today, Toyota is giving folks in Troy, in the east-central part of Missouri, something new to feel good about.
The company announced plans to add 57 jobs at its casting plant located in Lincoln County.
Todd Williams, Plant President for Toyota Missouri, told Missourinet that it means job security and a bright future for their team members in Troy.
“It will support our hybrid vehicle production in North America,” said Williams. “We’ll be able to produce over 200,000 more cylinder heads for hybrid vehicles. With that, our starting wage for our production team members is $23.00 an hour and for our skilled is up to $35.90.”
Williams said they will be partnering with local schools to help fill those positions.
“We do have some partnerships with Rankin and some other community colleges and things like that in the area,” said Williams. “And we’re really trying to ramp up to kind of develop, but build your own mentality and aspect to that, creating those community partners is very, very important to us.”
Williams said the new line will start production in 2027 and bring Toyota’s total investment in the Troy plant to $629 million.
