Before the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree reaches the West Lawn in Washington, it will make an important stop in St. Louis on Wednesday, November 11, 2025.

Chris Buckley, Public Affairs Specialist with the U.S. Forest Service said Missouri is a visit that is a key part of its journey.

“So, we started this journey in Nevada,” said Buckley. “That’s where the tree is coming from this year. So, her name is Silver Bell. She is a 53-foot-tall red fir. She was harvested near Reno and she’s a really amazing specimen to see. We’re really excited to bring her across the country and have as many people come and see her at all. These whistle stops and sign the banner.”

Buckley told Missourinet that Silver Bell will be on display at Union Station.

“We want people to come out, take pictures with the tree we have on this trailer with  windows in the back so everybody can see the tree,” said Buckley. “She’s all decorated that the lights on there. You can sign the banner that’s on the truck. So, all the people that sign the banner and taking these pictures, I mean social media can be blowing up with this. But it’s kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Buckley said the tree is quite a spectacle headed down the highway.

“Bumper to bumper with the cab it’s 101 feet long,” said Buckley. “We’ve got a police escort with us, too, right. So, if you see it going down the highway, you’ll know that she’s coming. We’re getting a lot of love, a lot of honks, a lot of waves. So, if you see it, just wave at the truck driver and hopefully he’ll honk the horn for you.”

The tree will be available for viewing and photo opportunities at Union Station on Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm.

This year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will make 16 stops across the country before taking its place on the West Lawn of the Capitol.
