Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins told Missourinet that there’s a wide range of issues on the ballot during Tuesday’s election.
“There’s not elections everywhere in the state of Missouri, but there are some important elections that will be taking place on a lot of local levels,” said Hoskins.
In Jefferson City, voters will decide whether to renew a 7% lodging tax that funds tourism and event sponsorships — while Springfield voters will weigh a 3% tax hike to support a proposed $175 million convention center. And Independence voters are set to decide whether they want to continue to have a four-day school week.
Hoskins told Missourinet that he doesn’t expect high turnout for Tuesday’s election.
“Unfortunately, yes, I predict there will be a very low turnout,” said Hoskins. “And so, when we have a very low turnout, then you have a very few number of voters decide a lot of different important things. There are no statewide votes that will be held on November 4th. Everything is very localized as far as the elections go.”
Hoskins said No Excuse Absentee votes have closed for Tuesday’s election.
“On Election Day, polls will be open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM for those who do have elections. And like I said, make sure you’ve got an election before you show up to vote.”
Hoskins said sample ballots and voter registration can be found at ShowMoVotes.com.
