Mercy-St. Louis is one of the first health care systems in the nation to offer a new cancer risk screening tool.
It starts with an online assessment and could lead to a blood or saliva test. Such cancer risk screening is not new, but what’s new is that Mercy is making it available on a large scale.
Dr. Jay Carlson says they hope to reach 100-thousand patients. The goal of the genetic testing is to detect cancers earlier, potentially resulting in a better outcome.
