Members of Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe’s public safety task force are reminding people to stay vigilant after Missouri bombers were used against suspected Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.
Osage County Sheriff Mike Bonham, who sits on Kehoe’s public safety task force, told Missourinet that local homeland security and national homeland leaders have briefed Missouri law enforcement. They say cyberattacks are a realistic possibility of retaliation.
“Usually, local levels are more prone to cyberattacks,” said Bonham. “Now the state of Missouri has been working on over the last few years with their cyber task force to harden our systems to work with local counties and cities to help them have a much more robust cybersecurity within their counties and cities.”
Sheriff Bonham said we are supposed to always be vigilant.
“Currently there is nothing that has been reported that it would be suspicious as an activity. There may be some localized incident that hasn’t been made public. To my knowledge, nothing has come forward, but that’s been a long-standing policy…you see something say something to law enforcement because even the smallest minute detail, that may be odd to you…you’re afraid to report may be the crucial piece of information that we really need.”
