(Jefferson City, MO) — Legal sports betting in Missouri appears to be on track for a December 1st, 2025 start date. Jan Zimmerman chairs the Missouri Gaming Commission and says applications have been coming in and will be vetted by the Missouri Highway Patrol’s gaming division. She says the commission is getting a wide range of tethered applications (those tied to existing Missouri gambling entities) and untethered applications, (large out-of-state gaming companies). Missouri will grant two of the untethered licenses, and those companies are are expected to make presentations to the Gaming Commission in August. Zimmerman says while voters narrowly approved sports gaming in November of 2024, there seems to be a growing enthusiasm for legalized sports betting in the state. Zimmerman says all approved gaming licenses are to be announced simultaneously and as close to December 1st as possible.
