College athletes can now be paid directly by their schools.

A federal judge has approved the Grant House and Sedona Prince v. NCAA settlement, clearing the way for Division One programs to share up to $20.5 million per year with athletes starting this year. The NCAA will also pay nearly $2.8 billion in back damages to athletes dating back to 2016.

Mizzou Athletic Director Laird Veatch said the school is committing to the full annual revenue sharing and adding 60 new scholarships. This marks a historic shift in college sports.
