An up-and-coming country musician from Missouri is preparing for what comes next after appearing on NBC’s The Voice this past season.

Seventeen-year-old Trevon Dawson, of Cole Camp near Lake of the Ozarks, was on Team Adam Levine. He told Missourinet he received some great advice from the pop music veteran.

“He was like right now you’re kind of in a box of like country. We’re going to like to get you out of that box and make it more diverse. And that’s what we kind of did in the battles. And whenever all that happened it got me to thinking about like I kind of am putting myself a little bit in a box. So, let’s expand the horizon a little bit. So, it got me thinking a lot more about music in general,” he said.

Dawson said bookings have been coming in left and right since his appearance on the Voice and he will be performing at various venues across Missouri this summer.

Dawson said he was the last contestant chosen to fill up all the teams on the competition.

“Being on Team Levine was truly a super blessing and humbling experience. And once we got there it was like ok this is what’s going to happen, now let’s go ahead and get started. Recording and all that jazz, it was the most well-oiled machine that I have ever seen in my entire life.”

Dawson said he will be headed to Nashville soon to record an album.
