A recently-formed Missouri House caucus will be looking specifically at future challenges facing the state.
It’s chaired by State Rep. Colin Wellenkamp, R-St. Charles. He gave Missourinet a sample of what types of future issues they’ll tackle.
“It can involve things that have very technical details. It can involve issues that are not well understood or don’t have a whole lot of data associated with them,” he said. “Our job is to look at these issues and explore what they could mean for legislation in the near term and what it could look like.”
One of the items they’ll be exploring is the role Artificial Intelligence plays in business, government, and daily life.
“There’s a lot of good things about Artificial Intelligence in terms of the computing power and helping people do more in less time, but there’s also a lot of risk,” Wellenkamp said.
The Future Caucus will also examine cyber security issues and help plan for future natural disasters.
It was created earlier this month by Missouri House Speaker Jon Patterson, R-Lee’s Summit.
